Alan Dershowitz Blasts Former Friend Larry David: Friendship ‘Terminated’ After Defending Trump
He started screaming at me, saying I was despicable and horrible” , Dershowitz reveals explosive end to one-sided Hollywood friendship over Trump support

In a candid new interview, renowned Harvard Law professor and constitutional lawyer Alan Dershowitz revealed that his longtime friendship with comedian Larry David abruptly ended the moment he began defending Donald Trump, accusing the Curb Your Enthusiasm star of flying into a rage and labeling him “despicable and horrible.”
In the footage from the Pod Force One podcast with Miranda Devine, Dershowitz sits in his book-lined study and describes what he calls a “one-sided friendship” that unraveled over political differences.
“It was a one-sided friend… He came to my house,” Dershowitz recounts. “But the minute I defended Donald Trump… he started screaming at me, saying I was despicable and horrible and all of that. And so our one-sided friendship terminated.”
Dershowitz, who has known David for years and credits him with helping his daughter gain admission to college, didn’t mince words about the comedian’s character. “He’s a mean, nasty man and he can’t tolerate contact with people who have a different point of view from him politically,” he said. He added that his wife “never liked Curb Your Enthusiasm” because “the curmudgeon character is not a character”, implying it reflects David’s real-life personality.
The full episode, titled “Dershowitz: Why I left the Democrats & what Epstein told me about Trump,” explains his broader break from the Democratic Party after defending Trump during his impeachments.
The David anecdote serves as a personal illustration of what Dershowitz describes as growing intolerance on the left toward dissenting views, particularly support for Trump or Israel. “That’s not the kind of friend I wanna have,” he concludes in the clip.
Larry David has not publicly responded to Dershowitz’s comments as of this writing. The comedian, known for his self-deprecating, neurotic on-screen persona and outspoken liberal views, has previously mocked Trump on Curb Your Enthusiasm and in public appearances.
