Israel has taken the next step in advancing its initiative on voluntary emigration from the Gaza Strip.
According to Israeli media reports, a high-level meeting chaired by National Security Adviser Shmuel Ben Ezra and attended by senior security officials concluded with a decision to place the Mossad in charge of coordinating the initiative.
Under the plan, Mossad Director Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman will oversee the effort, while the political leadership has approved a dedicated budget to support the program and the preparations required for its implementation.
The meeting focused on practical steps for advancing the initiative, including coordination among the relevant government and security agencies.
The reported move comes amid broader diplomatic efforts related to Gaza and follows last week's visit to Israel by the President of Somaliland, which has fueled speculation about possible regional diplomatic avenues connected to the initiative.
According to the reports, assigning the mission to the Mossad reflects the government's view that implementing the plan will require extensive diplomatic coordination alongside security planning.
