They Cheer as We Mourn: Inside the Prison Cells Where Hatred Still Reigns
Israel Cracks Down After Inmates Celebrate Civilian Deaths During Rocket Barrage
A recent incident inside an Israeli prison has exposed the disturbing mindset of convicted terrorists who continue to glorify violence even while incarcerated. The response from Israeli authorities highlights a broader struggle against the celebration of terror and hatred within and beyond prison walls.

From the moment rockets begin falling on Israeli towns, the instinct of every citizen is to run for cover, to protect their children, their families, and their homes. For most people, the sound of sirens signals fear and urgency. But for some, even those locked behind bars, it is a cause for celebration.
This week, during yet another barrage of rockets launched at Israeli civilian areas, inmates from the Palestinian territories imprisoned in a central Israeli facility were caught openly rejoicing. These are not political prisoners, they are convicted terrorists and criminals who have long proven their allegiance to violence, not peace. And even from within a cell, their devotion to the glorification of terror remains unchanged.
The fact that they celebrated the attempted murder of Israeli civilians; men, women, and children who did nothing but try to live normal lives, is more than disturbing. It is a reminder of the deep-rooted ideology that fuels our enemies: a hatred so absolute, it survives prison walls, disciplinary systems, and even the reality of their own defeat.
While most prisoners in democratic societies might reflect on their crimes, these individuals double down on the very ideology that led them there. They treat missile strikes not as tragedies but as triumphs. Every Israeli death, every burned home or shattered family, becomes, in their minds, a cause for joy. This is not resistance. This is cruelty. This is the celebration of terrorism as sport, where Jews are the targets and murder is the prize.
Thankfully, the Israel Prison Service acted swiftly. Under the direction of Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi, the elite Masada unit entered the facility and executed a controlled raid to remove those responsible for incitement. Disciplinary hearings followed, and appropriate punitive measures were taken. But the incident speaks to a larger, ongoing battle, not just over land or borders, but over values.
We, as Israelis, value life. We protect our citizens, all our citizens, because human life is sacred. Our enemies celebrate death. They raise their children on martyrdom, they name streets after murderers, and they clap when a bus explodes or a missile hits a nursery.
Even in the sterile confines of a prison cell, their propaganda machine never sleeps. It whispers to them that every Jew killed is a step toward paradise. And when they cheer from behind bars, they reveal exactly who they are, not freedom fighters, but fanatics who worship bloodshed.
Their joy over our suffering is their shame. And it is our duty, as a people, as a nation, never to forget it. Because even when they’re locked away, the war of values continues. And in that war, we must remain strong, principled, and unwavering.
