Shomrim Teamwork Leads to Arrest of Burglary Suspects

A suspicious vehicle crosses neighborhood boundaries, haredi volunteers track it in real time, and the NYPD receives continuous updates until the the stop and arrest. That's how an operation unfolded this week in Crown Heights, when brilliant cooperation between Boro Park Shomrim, Crown Heights Shomrim, and police led to the arrest of two suspects who had terrorized residents of the haredi neighborhoods.

It began in Boro Park: an urgent search alert was distributed to all Shomrim branches for a vehicle linked to a series of major burglaries. When the alert reached Crown Heights, a short drive away, the organization's advanced technology team sprang into action, and successfully located the wanted vehicle within the neighborhood's boundaries.

Shomrim volunteers followed the vehicle while providing continuous real-time updates to NYPD officers who were called to the scene. The precise directions supplied by the volunteers enabled officers to execute a planned stop of the vehicle at the edge of Crown Heights.

According to reports, the stop was carried out Thursday around 1:30 p.m. on Empire Boulevard near Flatbush Avenue. The two suspects in the vehicle were arrested, and the vehicle was seized by police as part of the ongoing investigation into the burglaries.
