Elon Musk calls for Donald Trump to be impeached and replaced with JD Vance

Tech mogul Elon Musk, once an ally of President Donald Trump and his budget hatchet man at DOGE, has now called for him to be impeached and replaced with JD Vance on X (Thursday):

The fight between Trump and Musk, which has increasingly escalated online, revolves around the Republican reconciliation bill known as the Big, Beautiful Bill. Trump has openly endorsed and backed the bill in its current form in the Senate, while Musk has decried its failure to seriously cut spending and restrain the national debt.

Trump in turn accused Musk of being angry at the ending of electric vehicle tax credits which benefit his Tesla business and even threatened to cancel his government contracts with NASA and others. In response, Musk announced the immediate cancellation of the SpaceX projects funded by the federal government. Now, Musk is calling for Trump's removal as President.

Elon Musk, owner of X, Tesla, and Twitter, was a political ally of Trump in the 2024 campaign, after being disillusioned with the Democrats, and chaired his DOGE efforts to slash government spending in various departments. Already then, Musk was frustrated by his efforts to restrain spending compared to the actual will of the President and the Republican Congress.
