Additional Sirens Sound at UK Base in Cyprus

Air raid sirens were activated again at the UK's RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus following the detection of two drones heading toward the facility. The Cypriot government spokesperson stated that the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were "confronted in time," with no reported impacts or casualties from this incident. This follows an overnight drone strike on the Akrotiri base, which caused minor damage but no injuries, amid the broader US-Iran conflict. As a precaution, Paphos International Airport—located approximately 60 km (37 miles) from Akrotiri—was evacuated after radars detected a suspect object, leading to airspace closures and flight cancellations. The US Embassy in Nicosia issued alerts urging vigilance in the Paphos region due to the potential drone threat.
