Coffins of Nasrallah’s Bodyguard and Son Arrive in Beirut

The coffins of Abu Ali Khalil, former bodyguard of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and his son Mahdi Khalil, killed in an Israeli airstrike near the Iran-Iraq border during Operation "Rising Lion," arrived at Beirut's airport earlier today. The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow at 5:00 PM in Dahieh, a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut. Abu Ali Khalil, known as Nasrallah’s “shield,” had been tasked with guarding the late leader’s tomb following Nasrallah’s assassination in September 2024. With Khalil’s death, questions arise about who will now protect Nasrallah’s grave, leaving a significant role vacant within Hezbollah’s ranks.
