The Nature and Parks Authority issued an urgent public appeal this morning following an incident in which a dolphin washed ashore at Jerusalem Beach in Tel Aviv.
Early in the morning, the dolphin was spotted stranded on the shoreline. Well-meaning citizens who were at the scene rushed to return it to the sea, but the Nature and Parks Authority is now clarifying that this action may have harmed the animal. Officials are expressing serious concern that the dolphin is injured or ill and requires urgent professional assistance.
Due to fears for the animal's life, the Nature and Parks Authority is appealing to swimmers and beachgoers in the coastal area with a critical request: if you encounter the dolphin in question, do not return it to the water under any circumstances.
