Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed he will travel to New York later this month to participate in the annual United Nations General Assembly.
The Prime Minister's Office issued a final announcement stating that Netanyahu will fly to New York and deliver an address at the UN's annual gathering.
The decision comes after weeks of intense debate both in the United States and Israel. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim anti-Israel politician, had previously announced he would work to arrest Netanyahu upon his arrival in the city. Mamdani has since backed away from those threats.
Netanyahu is expected to travel between September 23 and 25, during the period between Yom Kippur and Sukkot. It remains uncertain whether he will return to Israel before the start of Sukkot.
