Egypt's Sisi: Peace Impossible Without Palestinian State on 1967 Borders

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi says in a speech that continuing the war and occupation will not create peace but rather feeds the cycle of hatred and violence and opens the gates of revenge and resistance that will not be closed. In a speech he delivered in Cairo on the occasion of the days marking the overthrow of Morsi's rule on June 30, el-Sisi called: "Enough with the violence, killing and hatred, and enough with occupation, expulsion and uprooting." El-Sisi emphasized that peace, even if it seems difficult to achieve, is not impossible - it has always been the choice of wise people, and we draw inspiration from the experience of peace between Egypt and Israel in the seventies that was signed with American mediation, as proof that peace is possible if intentions are good. El-Sisi clarified that peace in the Middle East will not be achieved except through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
