Evacuated Be’er Sheva Families Told to Leave Hotels or Pay Retroactively

Families from a Be’er Sheva neighborhood struck by rocket fire and evacuated to hotels have been told by the municipality to vacate or face retroactive charges for their stay, Ynet reports. With rental prices soaring and few housing options available, many say they have nowhere to go. “There are no homes—and in those that exist, no one wants to rent for just a month,” one resident said. The Be’er Sheva municipality responded, saying the evacuated buildings are not classified as dangerous and that the Property Tax Authority has deemed them fit for habitation.
