Micha Kobi, formerly a senior official in the Shin Bet, was interviewed today (Tuesday) on Galei Yisrael radio and addressed reports that Prime Minister Netanyahu received warnings before October 7.
"There is now an unusually dirty election campaign going on," Kobi said. "People are pulling out of thin air all kinds of accusations against Netanyahu, against the government, against anyone they can, in order to clear themselves."
"Let's take the interview with Mrs. Mira Shoshani, a very senior Shin Bet woman, head of the Hamas thwarting division in the Shin Bet. What did she say on the morning of October 7? 'What happened to Yahya Sinwar? We were on the way to an arrangement.' That sentence says it all."
"Those who understand will understand… unfortunately I cannot go into all the details related to that sentence. In other words, there were certain contacts with Yahya Sinwar. I'm not going into the nature of the contacts right now. But one side won, one side lost in those contacts. And I'm saying this in hints."
He added: "She said something else: 'The head of the operations room called me and told me: this is a drill.' On what basis did she construct the drill? Unfortunately, she didn't tell the whole truth. She told part of the truth. I respect her very much as a professional, but here she didn't tell everything. She let slip those things I'm telling you, and that says it all."
"Ronen Bar admitted personally immediately after the war that he failed. Three years have passed. Why wasn't there all this discussion about the warnings during all that time? They saved it for the elections. There is a junta here running this stupid campaign that is making up accusations."
