Hamas Gaza Chief al-Hayya Gives Interview After Son Wounded in Strike

Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza and reportedly chosen to be the next chairman of Hamas's political bureau, gave an interview to Al Jazeera following a strike in Gaza that wounded his son Azam. Al-Hayya stated that the strike is a continuation of the September 9 attack in Qatar that killed his other son, claiming Israel seeks negotiating gains through "pressure, killing, and intimidation." He said Hamas told mediators to ensure implementation of the first stage of the ceasefire agreement and they are ready to begin the second stage. Al-Hayya accused Israel of violating agreements, claiming 850 have been killed since the October ceasefire.
