Hamas leadership election inconclusive, second round scheduled

Hamas held elections for its leadership, but no winner emerged in the first round. A second round will be held at a later date in accordance with the movement's regulations and procedures, Hamas announced in an official statement. In a separate statement, Hamas officially confirmed the death of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, a commander in its military wing.
