Haredi Parties Threaten Escalation Over Draft Law Delay
The ultra-Orthodox parties have issued an ultimatum to the Netanyahu government: deliver the finalized wording of the IDF draft law by this afternoon or face an intensified boycott of Knesset votes—including on key coalition-backed legislation. The warning comes as tensions rise over delays in advancing the controversial bill. Complicating matters is a divide within the Haredi bloc itself. Some factions reportedly wish to continue cooperating with the coalition, at least temporarily, to secure the appointment of MK Yisrael Eichler to a senior post. Meanwhile, a high-stakes meeting is underway between Likud’s Yuli Edelstein and Shas’ Ariel Attias, in a last-ditch effort to prevent the crisis from spiraling further.
