IDF Eliminates Head of Shuja’iyya Sector in Islamic Jihad
The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security agency announced the targeted killing of two senior Islamic Jihad operatives in a joint operation on June 7, 2025. Among those killed was Fatchal Abu al-Ata, commander of the Shuja’iyya sector for Islamic Jihad and previously the sector’s deputy commander. According to Israeli intelligence, Abu al-Ata played a central role in coordinating terror activities among Gaza-based militant factions and directed numerous attacks on Israeli forces during the ongoing war. He also personally infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre. Alongside him, IDF forces eliminated Hamad Kamel Abd al-Aziz Iyad, the chief engineer and explosives expert for the Turkman Battalion of Islamic Jihad. Iyad was responsible for developing and executing explosive-based attacks against Israeli troops.
