IDF Eliminates Senior Hamas Battalion Commander in Gaza Strike

The IDF has reportedly killed Muhammad ‘Azin, commander of the Daraj Tuffah Battalion, in a targeted strike carried out yesterday, according to a report by Yossi Yehoshua. If confirmed, ‘Azin would be the eighth battalion commander eliminated during Operation Chariots of Gideon. The strike likely also killed several other senior commanders present with him. Since the start of the operation, three brigade-level commanders—effectively leading Hamas after Yahya Sinwar went underground—have been killed: Muhammad Sinwar (Yahya’s brother), Rafah Brigade Commander Shubana, and Hakam al-Issa. In total, the IDF says it has killed approximately 1,300 operatives, including eight battalion commanders and 39 company commanders.
