IDF eliminates senior IRGC oil commander in Tehran airstrike
The Israeli Air Force struck the Tehran area on Friday, eliminating Mohammad Reza Ashrafi Kahi, a senior commander in the IRGC's Oil Headquarters who served as Head of Commerce. Ashrafi managed commercial operations estimated at billions of dollars annually, funding the IRGC's military capabilities and Iranian-backed proxies including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. The Oil Headquarters enables the IRGC's military buildup through oil sales profits while bypassing international sanctions. His elimination follows that of Jamshid Eshaqi, commander of the Oil Headquarters, marking another blow to Iran's security apparatus economic foundations.
