IDF Vehicle Hits Hezbollah IED; 2 Soldiers Lightly Wounded

Two IDF soldiers were lightly wounded on Shabbat in southern Lebanon after an engineering vehicle struck an explosive device planted by Hezbollah terrorists. The soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment and their families have been notified, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said.

In response to the incident, IDF forces struck Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the area. The strikes targeted multiple locations across southern Lebanon, including observation posts and infrastructure used by Hezbollah terrorists to advance and execute terror operations against IDF forces.

The IDF Spokesperson emphasized that forces continue to be deployed in the security zone in southern Lebanon in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, and will continue operating to remove threats to Israeli civilians and IDF troops. "The IDF is acting now and will continue to act forcefully against Hezbollah's repeated attempts to harm our forces," the statement read.

The incident joins a series of operations the IDF has conducted in southern Lebanon in recent months. Several days ago, forces from the 55th Brigade Combat Team located launch sites ready for use in the security zone, including 32 rockets aimed at Israeli territory that had been left in the area before the ceasefire agreement. The pit and rockets were destroyed by the forces.

In recent weeks, soldiers from the Maglan and Yahalom units completed an extended operation on the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, during which they operated for approximately three months to locate and destroy Hezbollah infrastructure. During the operation, the central command compound of the terror organization's Badr Unit was uncovered, which included underground tunnels stretching for kilometers with command centers, communications and intelligence equipment, ventilation systems, kitchens and medical rooms.

Meanwhile, the IDF is preparing for Yom Kippur with heightened security alert levels across all sectors of the country, particularly along the borders with Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, and in Judea and Samaria.
