IDF Renames Lebanese Outpost 'Magen Eitan' After Fallen Captain
The IDF has renamed the al-Adisa outpost in Lebanon to "Magen Eitan" (Shield of Eitan) in honor of Captain Eitan Oster, who fell in battle there on the eve of Rosh HaShanah. Oster led the Egoz force at the head of the entry into al-Adisa during Operation "Arrows of the North" and died in combat on the outpost's slope. Before entering battle, he told his brother: "A true fighter battles not because of his hatred for what stands before him, but because of his love for what stands behind him." The renaming honors his bravery and expresses hope the outpost will remain under Israeli control.
