IDF Strikes Back After Hezbollah Drone Attack

Two explosive drones targeted Israeli troops operating in the security zone in southern Lebanon; one was intercepted with no casualties reported

The Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday morning that Hezbollah operatives launched two explosive drones toward Israeli troops stationed in the security zone in southern Lebanon. IDF soldiers successfully shot down one of the unmanned aerial vehicles. No injuries were reported among Israeli forces.

An IDF spokesperson characterized the incident as a flagrant violation by the terror organization. In response to the attack, Israeli forces struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

The military emphasized that "IDF forces will continue to operate in the security zone to remove any threat to Israeli citizens and IDF troops."

The IDF stated it is taking and will continue to take forceful action against Hezbollah's repeated attempts to harm Israeli forces operating in the area.

Last week, the Israeli military struck Hezbollah infrastructure near Nabatieh in southern Lebanon following a similar attempted attack on IDF troops in the security zone. In that incident, Hezbollah also fired two explosive drones at Israeli forces on the Ali Taher ridge, with soldiers intercepting one of them.

Days ago, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF had completed its hold on the security zone in southern Lebanon following the capture of the strategic Ali Taher ridge. Katz stated that "Israel will not withdraw from the security zone in Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout all of Lebanon and threats against Galilee residents are removed."
