Following an intensive 40-day covert investigation, the elite Yahabal unit of Lahav 433 announced it has solved a murder that shook the northern city of Shfaram last August. The main suspect in the killing is a 24-year-old resident of Bir al-Maksur who serves as a soldier in the IDF, arrested while carrying a bottle of gasoline near the getaway vehicle.

According to police investigators' suspicions, the soldier intended to set the vehicle ablaze to eliminate any traces leading back to those who sent him. Behind the execution lies a deep and bloody conflict between two violent criminal organizations operating in the regio, the Sawad and Khaldi gangs.

The killing took place on August 12, when victim Hisham Khujayrat was trapped inside his vehicle and shot at close range. Magen David Adom teams called to the scene found him unconscious, without pulse or breathing, suffering from severe penetrating injuries and were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.

Immediately after the murder, police investigators launched a manhunt and collected evidence from the scene. During the intensive investigation, detectives succeeded in building a solid evidentiary foundation linking the suspect to the killing.

In recent days, a prosecutor's statement was filed against the young soldier, marking the opening shot toward filing a serious indictment and requesting his detention until the end of proceedings.
