IDF Suspends Reserve Rabbi Over Incendiary Remarks
The IDF has suspended Rabbi Aviad Gadot, a senior figure in the Torat Lechima organization, from reserve duty following his inflammatory comments targeting IDF Military Advocate General Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi. On Torat Lechima’s X account in June, Gadot suggested sending Tomer-Yerushalmi “on a high-friction foot tour of Nablus’s casbah before she issues orders to soldiers in Samaria.” After inquiries from Army Radio in recent weeks, Chief Military Rabbi Brig. Gen. Eyal Karim reviewed Gadot’s reserve service — now a non-combat, administrative role. IDF commanders have decided to stop summoning him for reserve duty and will reassess his future service. The IDF Spokesperson said: “The IDF includes citizens from all backgrounds and opinions while upholding its orders and values. The IDF condemns such statements against commanders and service members.”
