IDF thwarts weapons smuggling on eastern border, seizes 35 firearms and arrests two suspects

Israeli security forces intercepted a smuggling attempt along the eastern border Thursday night after IDF surveillance detected suspicious activity. Forces from the Jordan Valley and Foothills Brigade, Israel Police Jordan Border Unit, and Border Police conducted a joint operation and set up ambushes in the area. Two Jericho residents were arrested and over 30 pistols and two M-16 rifles were confiscated. The suspects and weapons were transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Central Unit for further investigation. Security forces remain deployed along the eastern border to prevent smuggling and protect Israeli citizens.
