IDF to Stagger Draft Notices to Ultra-Orthodox Recruits

Following public criticism and internal reassessment, the IDF has decided to spread out the distribution of draft notices to ultra-Orthodox pre-conscription-age men (known in Hebrew as Meyuchadim LeShirut, or “MALSHABIM”) over the course of July. According to the updated plan, approximately 18,000 draft notices are expected to be issued this week, with the remainder to be sent later in the month. The decision marks a shift from earlier intentions to send the full batch at once, and comes amid heightened political sensitivity surrounding the conscription of Haredi men.
