Iran vows to keep Strait of Hormuz closed as long as war continues

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated it is "natural" to close the Strait of Hormuz to prevent its use for attacks against Iran, declaring the strait will remain closed as long as the war continues. The spokesperson called the American blockade of Hormuz "a continuation of the war against Iran." On other issues, Iran said there is no reason to view the defense alliance between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan as directed against Iran, calling it a sign that regional countries understand security can no longer be achieved through the United States. Regarding talks with Oman, the spokesperson clarified they concern determining shipping routes in the strait, not renewing negotiations with the US.
