Summer brings a surge in rail ridership across Israel, as regular commuters are joined by families, teenagers, and parents with children traveling to vacation spots, flights from Ben Gurion Airport, and cruise departures from Haifa. With the increased traffic comes an inevitable wave of forgotten belongings. Service staff from the Lost and Found department collect items left behind at stations and in train cars, cataloging and storing them until they can be returned to their rightful owners.
This summer alone, the department has processed approximately 5,000 items, including hundreds of mobile phones, laptops and tablets, hundreds of pairs of wireless earbuds, caps, clothing, camping gear, backpacks, hats, sunglasses, and suitcases.
