Israel's Labor Ministry has introduced a new eligibility requirement for government childcare subsidies, according to an official document issued Monday. Parents seeking state support for daycare centers and family daycare providers must now demonstrate that both parents have regularized their status with the Israel Defense Forces.
The directive appears in the ministry's support criteria for the 2026-27 academic year and follows a Supreme Court ruling issued on April 26, 2026. Under the new policy, families will be ineligible for subsidies if either parent has been classified by the military as a draft dodger, has received an order under Section 12 of the Security Service Law, or has been designated as a deserter in the military's personnel system.
