Israeli businessman Moti Sander dies

Moti Sander, an Israeli businessman with close ties to President Herzog and Prime Minister Netanyahu, has died. In 2019, Sander recorded Netanyahu's promise to then-Labor chairman Avi Gabbay not to partner with Lieberman, a pledge that nearly enabled a government formation and averted a second election round. In 2026, he alleged that Herzog and Netanyahu had negotiated a pardon and plea deal before the presidential election; both denied the claim.
