Energy Minister Eli Cohen, a member of Israel's security cabinet, addressed public concerns Wednesday about a potential Iranian attack during the upcoming holiday period. Cohen said he is personally planning his holidays as normal and encouraged Israelis to do the same, emphasizing that the Home Front Command, Israel's civilian defense authority, has not issued any special guidelines to the public.
Speaking based on intelligence briefings he receives as a cabinet member, Cohen stressed that while he is sharing his assessment responsibly, the authority to issue official public safety instructions rests solely with the Home Front Command, not with individual ministers.
"As a cabinet member, I'm saying these things based on the reports I know and read, and I'm saying them out of a sense of responsibility," Cohen said when asked about the possibility of an Iranian strike during the holidays.
