Israeli Defense Minister outlines Lebanon ceasefire terms, security zone strategy

Defense Minister Israel Katz states the IDF will maintain control of all cleared and occupied positions in Lebanon during the ceasefire. He describes the operation as achieving significant results but incomplete, with over 1,700 Hezbollah fighters eliminated—more than double the Second Lebanon War toll. The IDF has established a security zone extending 10 km from the border to protect against attacks on Israeli settlements. Katz reaffirms the goal of disarming Hezbollah through military or diplomatic means, noting US presidential involvement has created political leverage. The security zone has been cleared of terrorists and weapons, with continued operations planned after the ceasefire ends if necessary.
