Who is the war criminal? After the IDF Spokesperson released footage Sunday from the central camps in the Gaza Strip showing a terrorist using a child to move combat equipment into a civilian building, Israeli journalist Almog Boker launched a sharp attack on Yuval Abraham, creator of the film NAZA, which has spread accusations against Israel worldwide.
Boker shared the IDF footage and wrote: "Yuval Abraham, are you listening? Here's an example of a war crime. Something you understand. A terrorist in Gaza uses a small child to move combat equipment so the IDF won't strike and stop the transfer. Uses him as a human shield. Yes, that's a war crime."
Boker continued: "Now, you tell me: what should be done? Eliminate the terrorist and the combat equipment even at the cost of one of his family members being hurt, or should we wait for him to use that weapon to kill our forces, fire a rocket at our communities, or use it to raid Israel and murder children and women?
You know, like they did on October seventh. Or maybe you actually don't know. I know exactly what the terrorists in Gaza would have done; we held back because of the child." He concluded: "Talk to me about genocide now. You fraud."
NAZA is based on testimony from some 24 soldiers and intelligence personnel (including from Unit 8200) speaking anonymously with distorted voices. They describe the IDF's operational methods, the use of technology and artificial intelligence, and their feelings about harm to the civilian population and the loosening of collateral damage restrictions during the war in Gaza.
The film drew harsh reactions from the Israeli public, with many accusing the filmmakers of harming the state and spreading libels against it. On the official and legal level, the IDF Chief of Staff ordered an examination of the legal aspects of the film. In addition, a formal complaint was filed with police against the filmmakers on suspicion of offenses including harming state security and passing classified information without authorization.
The IDF stated that "the terrorist exploited the child and used him as a human shield to move the combat equipment so the IDF would not strike and stop the transfer. This is another example of the systematic use by terror organizations of children for terror purposes, in violation of international law and for the purpose of advancing and executing terror plans against IDF forces operating in the Yellow Line area and citizens of the State of Israel."
