Traffic Alert

Road Closures Expected Amid Haredi Protests

Demonstrations planned in Bnei Brak area following arrest of ultra-Orthodox draft evader; Highway 4 and major thoroughfares may be blocked

Attention drivers: A major road in the Gush Dan area will be closed over the coming nights.

Israeli police issued a public advisory Monday regarding anticipated traffic disruptions in the central region, as ultra-Orthodox protesters are expected to demonstrate following the arrest of a Haredi man who evaded military service.

According to the police statement, traffic arrangements in the Bnei Brak area will be affected during the afternoon hours. Highway 4 may be closed in both directions between the Aluf Sadeh and Em HaMoshavot interchanges. Heavy traffic congestion and potential road blockages are also expected along Jabotinsky Street in Bnei Brak.

In its advisory, the police stated: "We recommend the public use alternative routes and stay updated at all times, avoid traveling to these locations. The Israel Police views the right to protest as a cornerstone of a democratic state and permits demonstrations as long as they are conducted within the framework of the law. However, the police will not tolerate disturbances of any kind or interference with freedom of movement, nor any behavior that could endanger public safety."

The demonstration is expected to begin around 5:00 PM.
