Israeli Police Arrest Protection Racket Suspects Extorting Contractors

Several protection racket operatives from the Tarabin clan were arrested yesterday on suspicion of extorting contractors working on reconstruction projects in Israel’s Gaza-border communities, according to MK Almog Cohen. Cohen, who authored Israel’s anti-protection racket law, welcomed the arrests, saying the legislation is being actively enforced and is proving effective against organized crime. “This law delivers a long-awaited, practical response and strikes at the soft underbelly of the worst criminal organizations,” he stated.
