Missing Israelis Vienna: Police Deploy All Resources

Israeli Police Commissioner Danny Levy convened a high-level situation assessment Wednesday afternoon focused entirely on the intensive efforts to locate two Israeli women, Mali and Liel Yehalomi, who disappeared in Vienna and have not been heard from since.

The meeting brought together senior command staff including the head of the Investigations and Intelligence Division, the head of the Intelligence Unit, Israeli police representatives operating abroad, and intelligence officers working in Austria where the disappearance occurred. Levy received a comprehensive briefing on all investigative activities and intelligence efforts underway both in Israel and overseas. Following the assessment, the commissioner issued instructions to allocate all necessary resources and means, without limitation, to advance the investigation and search. He also directed officials to strengthen and deepen cooperation with all relevant international and local authorities until the two women are found.

The high-level police response comes amid mounting concern for the safety of Mally and Liel, who have been classified as missing since last Friday. Alarm intensified after the pair failed to board their scheduled return flight to Israel from Prague Tuesday evening at 9:45 p.m. When authorities checked the Vienna vacation rental where the two had been staying during their trip, they found the apartment completely empty of personal belongings. Austrian police forces entered the premises alongside representatives from the Israeli embassy in Vienna and activists from the local Chabad community, all working intensively on the ground.

Other reports indicate that they were last seen on Saturday near the train and that they didn't collect the meal they had ordered from Chabad.

However, officials report that so far no leads have emerged that could indicate the women's whereabouts or the circumstances behind their mysterious disappearance.

The last contact with Mali and Liel came Friday before the Sabbath, when they wrote in the family group chat: "We arrived at the apartment, look what a cool apartment, Shabbat Shalom to everyone." The two had traveled to Vienna from Prague by train as part of a surprise trip organized by Liel for her mother Mally's 50th birthday. Amir Rodnik, Mali's brother-in-law, told Israeli media that since that message, contact has been completely severed. "Nothing about what's happening fits their character," he said. The Israeli embassy in Austria has issued an urgent appeal for assistance in locating the two Israeli citizens. As of now, there are no leads regarding the cause of their disappearance or their location. Family members and official authorities continue intensive efforts to find them as time grows increasingly critical.
