Jerusalem Faction proposes Ger split from United Torah Judaism, proposal rejected

The Jerusalem Faction, along with several rabbis and activists, proposed that the Ger Hasidic movement withdraw from United Torah Judaism to establish a separate party with a hard line against military conscription. The proposal was rejected Thursday night by Babchik, representing Ger, who instead suggested they support United Torah Judaism given their shared opposition to conscription. The meeting at Jerusalem Faction member Eliyahu Goldstoff's home included Rabbi Buaron's son, Rabbi Yitzhak Rabin of Bnei Brak, and activists from the Lelov Hasidic movement. Haredi media reported over the weekend that United Torah Judaism may run as a technical bloc, with Gafni expected to split from Agudat Yisrael after elections.
