Several of America's key Gulf allies are experiencing deepening frustration with the Trump administration, according to a Washington Post report. Regional leaders are troubled both by the prolonged conflict with Iran and by Washington's approach to ending it.

Arab and Western sources who spoke with the newspaper said that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain increasingly feel they are paying a heavy price for the confrontation, while American diplomatic efforts have yet to produce meaningful breakthroughs.

"Trump started the war and we're paying the price," one Gulf official told the Post, describing anger toward Washington as particularly intense. The sentiment reflects a broader concern about inconsistency in U.S. policy, as sources in the region struggle to understand the American position after Trump has alternated between issuing sharp threats against Tehran and speaking optimistically about progress in negotiations.

At the same time, these countries are actively working to diversify their security partnerships. The Washington Post report highlighted the recently signed "Mecca Agreement"—a defense pact between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. A senior European official characterized the move as "a signal to the United States," explaining that these nations are seeking to expand their security options. "From their perspective, the United States is not enough," the official said. The development suggests Gulf states are hedging their strategic bets while maintaining their alliance with Washington, seeking additional security guarantees as uncertainty over American commitment grows.
