In a message addressing Defense Minister Katz, Pollard criticized the use of administrative orders against Judea and Samaria residents, and demanded the release of hunger-striking activist Tal Yinon Dardik.
"It has been a long time since I was so furious at the Israeli government", Jonathan Pollard said in a video released Tuesday, issuing a sharp demand to Defense Minister Israel Katz to act toward the release of Tal Yinon Dardik.
Dardik was arrested following an alleged violation of an administrative order issued against him by Central Command head Maj. Gen. Avi Blut.
Persecution and Promises
Pollard strongly criticized the continued use of administrative orders against settlers, accusing the regional commander and the Shin Bet of persecuting Dardik over his involvement in establishing hilltop communities in Judea and Samaria.
Directing his primary demands at the defense minister, Pollard pointed out that Katz had previously declared an end to administrative arrests against settlers, insisting he must now honor his statement.
"If he is telling the truth, then he should release this young man immediately and stop persecuting him," Pollard stated. He urged Katz to approach the head of the Shin Bet and halt the application of British Mandate-era powers against settlers.
Demanding Dismissal
Pollard also launched a direct attack against Maj. Gen. Avi Blut, calling for his removal from his post. He extended his criticism to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, holding him ultimately responsible for the policy enforced against Dardik.
Toward the end of the statement, Pollard expressed deep concern for Dardik's physical condition and urged decision-makers to act swiftly.
Deterioration and Hospitalization
Dardik, a farm resident in Benjamin and a father of four, was arrested approximately three weeks ago for allegedly violating an administrative order that instructed him to remain under full house arrest at his mother-in-law's home. According to Dardik and the Honenu legal aid organization, the order was practically impossible to execute, a fact conveyed to the regional commander prior to the arrest.
Following his arrest, Dardik initiated a hunger strike in protest of the administrative order. According to reported information, he was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus after his medical condition deteriorated. Pollard is now calling on the defense minister to intervene and order his release.
