Justice Minister Levin Accuses AG of Blocking Shin Bet Appointment,
Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin accused Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara of preventing the appointment of a new Shin Bet chief based on what he called “fabricated conflicts of interest.” In a statement shared Monday, Levin claimed the attorney general was exploiting state resources to avoid her own dismissal, saying this in itself constituted a clear conflict of interest. He defended his initiative to establish a ministerial committee to hold a hearing and potentially recommend her removal, calling the move both legal and necessary. “The Israeli government deserves impartial, professional, and objective legal counsel, free from personal interests,” Levin stated.
