Defense Minister Israel Katz said Tuesday that Hamas leaders living abroad are in Israel's sights, hours after the IDF eliminated the terror group's northern Gaza brigade commander overnight.

"Hamas leaders abroad are in the crosshairs," Katz said. "None of these vile murderers who were a central part of the October 7 massacre should die peacefully in their beds. This is our duty as a people and as a state. Once they escaped due to a malfunction, but the next time will come, and they too will be sent to the depths of hell."

Katz said the overnight strike was part of an ongoing campaign against Hamas's command structure in Gaza. "The IDF eliminated the northern Gaza brigade commander of the Hamas terror organization last night, as part of the chain of thwarting operations carried out constantly against terror leaders in Gaza," he said.

The strikes, he said, are "designed to damage Hamas's ability to carry out terror attacks against our forces and to crush its capabilities on the way to disarming it — and to take revenge on all those responsible for the acts of murder and atrocities committed on Simchas Torah three years ago against Israeli women and children simply for being Jews."
