A weekend traffic altercation between teenagers in Lakewood, New Jersey spiraled into a violent confrontation involving a knife attack, an accidental stabbing, and vehicle theft, ending with multiple arrests by local police.

According to a report by Lakewood Alerts, the incident began near a Food-X store on Princeton Avenue, where a verbal dispute erupted between a group of Jewish teens and Hispanic teens traveling in separate vehicles.

Following the initial argument, the suspects called additional friends to the scene and began pursuing the Jewish teens' vehicle through the town, creating dangerous conditions for other drivers. The chase culminated near the intersection of 10th Street and Clifton Avenue, where the attackers blocked the road, exited their vehicle, and began shouting threats at the Jewish teens, who remained in their car.

As tensions escalated at that location, one suspect drew a knife and began swinging it menacingly toward one of the Jewish teens in an apparent attempt to stab him. However, amid the chaos and confusion, the blow missed its intended target and instead struck one of the attacker's own companions. The friend who was stabbed required medical treatment for his injuries. Simultaneously, another individual involved in the incident exploited the commotion, jumped into the Jewish teens' vehicle, and fled the scene with the stolen car. Police recovered the stolen vehicle shortly afterward.

Lakewood police launched an intensive investigation. Dozens of detectives and youth division investigators worked in the field for extended hours to identify those involved and apprehend them. Several suspects were arrested and brought in for questioning at the police station.

Sources familiar with the details reported that the primary suspect who wielded the knife faces serious charges including aggravated assault and weapons possession, while another suspect faces proceedings for vehicle theft.

Lakewood police moved quickly to reassure the local Jewish community, stating that at this stage of the investigation there is no indication or reason to believe the incident was motivated by antisemitism, but rather was a road rage incident that escalated to criminal dimensions.

The investigation continues.
