Leaked Recordings Show Shin Bet Chief Zini Criticizing Judicial System
Recordings of Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar (Zini) have been exposed showing him making controversial statements about Israel's judicial system and government operations. In the recordings, he criticizes human rights advocacy as "nonsense" and describes government dysfunction: "I sit in the cabinet, it's a miracle — the elected level doesn't actually have the ability to manage its own frameworks because people got confused about what their role is." He told Netanyahu he could take on missions because of his "ability to be loyal to the elected leadership," adding "I have worldviews and an agenda, and I want to promote them." He also criticized the legal profession, saying lawyers "harm human rights, the economy, security" and "trample in the name of procedures and regulations."
