Lebanese Parliament Speaker Berri Proposes Alternative to Israel-Lebanon Agreement

Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament and head of the Shiite Amal Movement, has outlined his alternative to the memorandum of understanding between Israel and Lebanon. Berri, considered Hezbollah's representative in talks with the West, proposes two conditions: a complete and comprehensive ceasefire at sea, in the air, and on land without destruction of existing infrastructure, and full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanese territories simultaneous with Hezbollah's withdrawal from the area south of the Litani River.
