Lebanese President: Normalization with Israel Not on the Table

President of Lebanon Joseph Aoun stated that the disarmament of armed groups in the country is “a final and non-reversible decision,” emphasizing that any future decision regarding war or peace will rest exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese government. Speaking during a meeting in Beirut with an Arab delegation, Aoun clarified Lebanon’s current stance: “Peace is a state of no war—and that is our goal at present.” However, he dismissed speculation about potential normalization with Israel, stating the matter is “not currently on Lebanon’s agenda.”
