Voting in the Likud party's primary elections for the 26th Knesset opened this morning at 10:00 AM at polling stations across Israel.
Minister Haim Katz, who chairs both the Likud Central Committee and the Knesset Constitution Committee, launched the voting process. Katz himself received a protected spot on the list and is not competing in the primary. "I call on all Likud members to come and vote, to exercise your right", Katz declared as polls opened, "We need a strong team, and we trust in you!"
The primary will see roughly 150,000 registered party members select exactly 12 candidates from a field of approximately 50 contenders, determining who will occupy 15 realistic positions on the Likud party national list for the upcoming elections.
