Merchant Vessel Struck and Disabled Off Yemen’s Coast

A commercial ship sailing approximately 51 nautical miles west of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, came under sustained attack Monday by assailants aboard small craft, maritime security sources report. The attackers reportedly fired rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), causing significant structural damage and disabling the vessel’s propulsion system. The ship is now drifting and remains surrounded, under continuous threat. Authorities have urged all vessels in the region to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activity to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
