Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a forceful condemnation Saturday night of violent riots that took place in the Palestinian villages of Qusra and Jallud in the West Bank. In an official statement, Netanyahu declared: "I strongly condemn the criminal acts of violence carried out in the villages of Qusra and Jallud by a handful of rioters who violate the law, cause tremendous injustice to the law-abiding settler public, interfere with the IDF in carrying out its missions, and damage Israel's standing in the world."
The prime minister's statement noted that security forces responded swiftly, confiscating three vehicles and bringing the incident to a close within a short time. "The IDF, Shin Bet, and police are conducting a vigorous investigation on the ground, and I expect law enforcement authorities to arrest the rioters and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law as soon as possible," Netanyahu said. The prime minister's international media spokesman, Doron Spielman, echoed the same message to foreign press.
