Unusual Late-Night Call

Poliker Woken by Police to Prevent Suicide

Tel Aviv police roused the veteran musician from sleep after a person in crisis refused help unless allowed to speak with him

Israeli Singer Yehuda Poliker

Israeli police turned to an unconventional solution during a crisis situation in Tel Aviv late Sunday night, waking veteran singer Yehuda Poliker from sleep to help save a life.

Officers had responded to an urgent call from concerned neighbors and arrived to find a person threatening to take their own life. When standard intervention efforts failed, the individual made an unusual demand: they would only stand down if permitted to speak with Poliker, one of Israel's most recognized musicians.

Recognizing the critical nature of the situation, police acted quickly. A team was dispatched to Poliker's home to wake him and request his immediate assistance.

According to sources close to the singer who spoke with Ynet, Poliker responded without hesitation when officers arrived at his door in the middle of the night explaining the emergency.

"The police came to him late at night and asked for urgent help," those familiar with the incident told the news outlet. "Yehuda didn't hesitate. He immediately pulled himself together and conducted a sensitive phone conversation with the person. Thanks to his warm words and listening, he succeeded in dissuading them from the act and thereby saved their life."

The tense incident, which could have ended in tragedy, concluded safely thanks to the quick thinking of responding officers and Poliker's readiness to help at a moment's notice.
