Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to appear this evening on Channel 14's "The Patriots" program, a platform known for its supportive coverage of the premier, following what sources describe as a difficult period for his political standing. The interview comes as Netanyahu faces mounting challenges from multiple directions within his own coalition.
Earlier this week, former minister Ofer Winter announced the formation of a new political party. According to recent polling, the party could capture 6-7 Knesset seats and potentially become a kingmaker in upcoming elections. However, the emergence of this right-wing party threatens to pull votes from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism party, potentially pushing it below the electoral threshold required for Knesset representation.
Netanyahu has reportedly attempted to broker unity arrangements among right-wing parties, urging National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to merge with Smotrich, while other reports suggest he has mediated talks between Smotrich and former MK Moshe Feiglin. But Ben-Gvir, sensing his own political strength, has reportedly declined the prime minister's pressure. Meanwhile, the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party has continued its campaign suggesting it would not automatically recommend Netanyahu for forming the next government, instead indicating openness to opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot—potentially breaking the right-wing-ultra-Orthodox bloc alignment that has held since 2015.
