Palestinian prisoner released in 2024 hostage deal dies in Egypt

Riyad Al-Amour, a Palestinian prisoner who was sentenced to 11 life sentences and released as part of a hostage deal with Hamas in 2024, has died in an Egyptian hospital at age 56. Al-Amour had been deported to Egypt following his release. He was convicted for multiple deadly attacks between 2000-2002, including shootings that killed Israeli soldiers and civilians, and was considered a primary target of Israeli security forces in 2001.
